Germany reduces tariffs

Article Abstract:

Germany's airports have experienced double growth level to 2.4 million from 1.2 million. A 6.4% growth was seen in Frankfurt, Leipzig, Cologne, Dresden and Hanover while the smaller regional airports accounted for 8.3% of the controlled traffic. Capital expenditure for FY98 was recorded at DM290 million with fixed asset totals remaining at approximately DM1.5 billion. Major construction projects at various airports are in different stages of development and will be on a uniform design basis.

Taking the right Routes

Article Abstract:

The fourth Routes conference held in London in mid-Sep 1998 attracted 200 airport and airline delegates. Keynote speaker Gilbert Thompson said airlines have to take over airports, noting that airport management for many years has been content for airlines to set the pace. On the issue of marketing, the airport name should be at the forefront. Baltimore, for example, has derived great success from its link with Washington.
