Getting out of a fix

Article Abstract:

South-East Asian currencies have cut their ties with the US dollar and must now decide how to reposition themselves in currency markets. They need a system that is flexible, yet gives them more structure than a free-floating system. International Monetary Fund guidelines for selecting an exchange rate system are given.

Can Europe put EMU together again?

Article Abstract:

Great Britain's economic recovery following it's loss of membership in the European exchange rate mechanism (ERM) seems to indicate that the idea of European monetary union is a failure. But if Europe hopes to see a single market economy work it must not abandon ERM.
