GlobeGround grows Berlin business

Article Abstract:

GlobeGround has expanded its business since ground handling services were liberalized and opened to competition at Berlin, Germany's Tegel Airport in Jul 2000. It plans on further expansion at Berlin Schonefeld in 2001. GlobeGround is the biggest service provider at Berlin's airports, with 1,500 employees, and comes second only to Berlin Brandenburg Flughafen Holding. The company is also participating in the construction of the Baltic Cargo Centre at Riga Airport which is slated to begin late in 2000.

A secure way to grow

Article Abstract:

Heimann Systems is one of the leading suppliers of baggage inspection systems used by the aviation industry. More than half of the 17,000 installed Heimann security systems can be found at airports around the world. A major factor in the company's success is the product development work being done at its headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany. Its ProLine concept was developed with the help of ergonomics specialists from Heidelberg University.

BAA explores e-business airport alliance

Article Abstract:

The world's leading airport operator BAA has initiated the move to form a working group that would create an international e-business-based alliance for airports. Provisionally known as World Airports, The group's members include Aeroports de Paris, Copenhagen Airports, Dallas Fort Worth, Houston Airport System,, Indianapolis International, and Melbourne and Pittsburgh International.
