Great bargains are for the taking in Vietnam: cities seek to entice tourists as number of foreign arrivals declines

Article Abstract:

Vietnam offers numerous tourist and travel services conspicuously absent during its war years. Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city and other small towns have restaurants and hotels that are reasonably priced and sometimes offer bargain prices as a result of the Asian economic crisis. Hotels in Ho Chin Minh having rack rates pegged $100 less than their previous rates are New World and Delta Caravelle. Restaurants such as Indochine, Seasons and Club Opera are specialists in Vietnamese food while the Press Club is popular among expatriates because of its Western food.

Victoria's Vietnam hotel strategy focuses attention on smaller cities

Article Abstract:

The French hotel chain Victoria adopted a new strategy of developing hotels in Vietnam. After seeing four- and five-star hotels in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City built by other international hotel chains doing not too well, Victoria officials have decided to build upmarket hotels in Vietnam's smaller cities and rural areas. The French hotel developer will also open resorts in the less-visited places of Vietnam.
