Growing home ownership is breeding bourgeois values

Article Abstract:

China's property market is undergoing a transformation as home buyers push for higher quality housing. Residential property sales grew by 31% last year, and individual buyers now account for 80% to 90% of residential land sales, compared to state monopolized markets of the past. Home ownership is likely to result in many social changes in China such as increased local involvement in schools, road maintenance and human rights issues.
