The introduction of the new Building Regulations 2004 should make securing building warrant approval more straightforward for even the most innovative designs. The opportunity to embrace concepts like 'robustness' as a route towards improved construction standards are not to be missed and must be seen as a good thing for homeowners, housing associations and others confronting problem areas like sound transmission between dwellings.

ARB faces test case over validation

De Montfort University is preparing a legal challenge after ARB decided to drop prescription for various courses. ARB claimed that the examination standards for the courses were insufficient, but ARB's visiting board recommended that ARB not proceed with its action.
