FEDDERS LLOYD TIES UP WITH CHINA'S HAIER

Fedders Lloyd Corporation Limited, an air-conditioner manufacturer, has signed a joint venture pact with Haier Refrigerator Corporation Limited of China. The joint venture company, called Lloyd Refrigeration Private Limited, will be established at a cost of $10 million. Lloyd Refrigeration Private Limited will produce frost-free refrigerators at its production facility at Noida. Initially, it will produce over 2 lakh refrigerators per annum. It also plans to produce a range of household appliances later. (ag)

In the 18 months ended September 1997, Fujitsu-ICIM (FI) made a net profit of Rs7.59 crore. It reduced its debts to Rs38 crore by September 1997 from Rs67.65 crore in March 1996. FI has transferred its software business to a subsidiary - International Computers India Ltd (ICIL) - for Rs45 crore. (rk)
