HP's tiny advance will have a huge impact-so why no interest?

Article Abstract:

Researchers at the Hewlett Packard Palo Alto laboratories developed a new manufacturing process capable of producing molecular-sized circuits much more densely packed than the most advanced semiconductor chips. Such an advance would lead to tiny, powerful machines with 16,000-bit memories and inexpensive computers capable of holding entire libraries of text, music and moving pictures among other things and yet such an advance is not receiving the required interest and enthusiasm from the people.

Internet evolution gives 'obsolete' phone boxes a new lease of life

Article Abstract:

An explanation of the first principle of technological growth that development of products also leads to their elimination and replacement by more refined products is based on the examples of car models and telephone booths. The latter, which were rendered obsolete by the pocket size mobile phone, have however been restored in the U.S., for the use of laptop owners to make wireless connections to the Internet.

Reality versus realism and the perverse phases of progress

Article Abstract:

The difference between 'reality and realism' in the world of architecture is explained with the help of an example. The most widespread manifestation of realism is the conviction that everything from the high cost of building maintenance to the debilitating effect of mounting traffic congestion can be brought under control by returning to the old ways.
