RTL Group lifts stake in Antena 3 of Spain

Article Abstract:

RTL Group PLC increased its share of Spanish channel Antena 3 Television S.A. and launched a new strategic partnership with Telefonica Media S.A., principal owner of Antena 3, that might involve media ventures throughout Europe and in Latin America. RTL acquired a 6.23% stake in Antena 3 from Bank of New York, paying Euro155.7 million.

Due to a slump in the stock price of Germany's media and entertainment giant EM.TV and Merchandising AG, Thomas Haffa, the company's Chief Executive Officer, has disclosed that he may resign his position if the company does not recover in the Gerrman stock market.

BSCH receives boost in Banespa acquisition

Article Abstract:

Banco Santander Central Hispano SA's acquisition of Banco do Estado de Sao Paulo (Banespa) received fresh assistance from Royal Bank of Scotland PLC, which invested 500 million pounds (834.7 million euros) to finance the deal. Banco Santander is acquiring Banespa for $3.6 billion (4.29 billion euros).
