Harris Falcon II radio family spreads its wings

Article Abstract:

Harris RF Communications Division expanded the VHF set it launched in March 1997 with the newly launched RF-5800H-MP manpack HF member of its Falcon II radio family. The Royal Netherlands Army, one of the first customers, ordered the equipment under contracts it awarded in 1994 and 1996 worth $60 million. Harris will also supply encryption modules endorsed by the Netherlands National Communications Security Agency with Philips Crypto and will offer installation and support services with Siemens Nederland.

Tadiran launches new UAV-imagery receiving system

Article Abstract:

Tadiran Electronic System Group has introduced its manpack receiving system (MRS). MRS is designed to deliver a portable intelligence reception and display capability to frontline units. The system consists of a handheld terminal with a 10.4-in, 800 x 600-pixel, sunlight-readable, touch-panel color display and a Pentium 233MHz MMX system processor with a 4.3-gigabyte hard disk. The package also includes a C-band manpack receiver with a 7-km range omni antenna.

Agile beam radar flight tests focus on ground imaging

Article Abstract:

Northrop Grumman Corp's Electronic Sensors and Systems Sensor has developed a new, fourth-generation active electronically scanned array (AESA) agile beam radar (ABR). The flight tests showed that the AESA system performed all-weather, high-resolution, synthetic aperture radar ground imaging at tactically significant distances. The ABR is aimed at new advanced, versions of the F-16C/D and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighters.
