Article Abstract:

George Tenet, director of the Central Intelligence Agency, has announced his resignation effective July 2004, opening up speculation as to whether the US needs to change its intelligence-gathering processes. The CIA has been criticized for its failure to detect plans for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The administration of George W. Bush is calling on the United Nations to provide peacekeeping forces in Iraq. However, the U.S. wants to maintain military control of the Iraqi occupation. The U.S. is engaged in talks with the UN over a peacekeeping resolution.
