Herring: Faroe hits back at Norway

Article Abstract:

The recent herring grab by Norway exceeding the quotas under the Atlanto-Scandian herring agreement has prompted Faroe Islands to take retaliatory measures. Faroe Islands has increased its quotas of herring fishing by 42 percent for this year. Iceland has requested Norway to reconsider its stand on Atlanto Scandian herring agreements. However, it is unlikely that it will happen considering the fact that other countries that are party to the agreement have also increased their herring fishing quotas.
