Housing at a Victorian scale: Avanti Architects maintains its record, of designing high-quality schemes on innter-city sites to tight budgets, with these apartment blocks in North London

Article Abstract:

Avanti Architects designed apartment blocks in North London for the Guinness Trust. The aim was to provide affordable homes for rent and the Lambton Road block was desgined as a terrace of six pairs of maisonettes with flats above. The Nugent Road apartment block fronts the road and was given its own identity with its height greater than the Lambton Road block. The blocks are externally finished in red brick, embelished with stone portals, blue concrete columns and metalwork balustrading. A cost analysis for the works including substructure, superstructure, finishes, services and fittings is given.
