How Bristol-Myers fumbled defense of $4 billion drug

Chief Executive Peter R. Dolan, Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. of the United States has had his offices raided by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation. There have been concerns about how management tried to protect its best selling drug Plavix from generic competition. Share price is down by 60 percent since Mr. Dolan became Chief Executive Officer.

Pfizer's strategy takes shape; Europe sales team may be cut deeply; reorganizing R&D

Jeffrey B. Kindler, new CEO of Pfizer Inc., is preparing to announce his plans for the company, which are expected to include major restructuring and significant job cuts. Mr. Kindler, who has already made a number of changes in the six months since he became CEO, plans to cut expenses while keeping research-and-development costs stable.

Lilly sets deal to acquire Icos for about $2.1 billion

Article Abstract:

Eli Lilly & Co. of the United States is to purchase ICOS Corp. also of the United States for $2.1 billion. The move would give Eli Lilly & Co. full patent ownership of the erectile-dysfunction medication Cialis. Cialis has a 25 percent market share with international sales of $456 million in the first half of 2006.
