In 1998, France's Montpellier airport recorded a growth rate of 8.6%, Basle- Mulhouse-Freiburg, 13.3%, Paris Charles de Gaulle, 9.4%, Nice, 9.7% and Clermont Ferrand, 22.3%. Mediterranean airports plan ahead

Article Abstract:

Nice Airport projects that it will handle over nine million passengers in 2000, which would equal its maximum capacity. The important trend to have surfaced in the past five years is the growth of international traffic at a rate double the rate of domestic traffic. This major change has been attributed to the start of hub operations by Air Littoral in 1997 and the effect of the operations of low-cost carriers.
