Hutchison's long-distance bill

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. is spending money in emerging markets of Europe and Australia. Subsidiary 3 Group revenue is up five fold to $15.74 billion Hong Kong dollars, gaining market share in Italy and the United Kingdom and shares are up five percent to $69.75 Hong Kong dollars on the Hong Kong stock exchang. However, the telecommunications company lost $25.32 billion Hong Kong dollars in 2004.

The U.S. posted a 6.2% unemployment rate in July 2003, a slight decline from the June period. The labor market's recovery could attract investors who could pump money again into the marketplace. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 41.61 points on August 29, 2003.
