HypoVereinsbank net may disappoint

Article Abstract:

Bayerische Hypo-& Vereinsbank AG is expected to report only a modest improvement in its earnings for the first-half of 1999. HypoVereinsbank is continuing to experiencing difficulty in seeing profits following its merger on September 1, 1998. The bank has also been dealing with ongoing scandal involving real-estate loans. Analysts believe HypoVereinsbank will poste approximately 438 million euros to 445 million euros in net profits for the first half.

Munich Re posts a loss, mirroring earlier view
