Swiss firm set to market `smart' guns

Article discussing SIG Swiss Industrial Co. Holding Ltd.'s introduction of a handgun with a lock that requires the owner to punch in a personal identification code to pull the trigger. The Model P229 Electronic Personal Lock System is expected to sell for roughly $950 (Euro938.74) when it arrives in gun stores early in 2000.

U.S. privacy advocates fret over plans for tracking cell-phone users' locations

The US Federal Communications Commission wants wireless telephone service providers to pinpoint 911 calls by Oct 2001 to within 100 ft. Privacy advocates are concerned even though the government wants the changes to assist stranded drivers and crime victims.
