ISO 9000 in Belgium: Experience of Belgian Quality Managers and HRM

Article Abstract:

Studies of the implementation of ISO 9000 quality standards in Belgium show that desired improvements in the workplace are not being achieved. Employee participation is not emphasised enough and human resource management is largely ignored by the process. Total quality management involves the use of human skills such as leadership qualities and organisational cooperation. Less attention should be paid to the acquisition of certificates within the European Community.
