IT agenda 2000: not fixing technical bugs but creating business value

Article Abstract:

Companies have to develop an IT agenda for the next century because companies need to recognize that IT has no longer merely a supporting function but is an important business resource. Business planners have to recognize that IT can make a direct and quantifiable impact on a company's performance. Managers need to consider whether they have tackled IT weaknesses and whether they have created an IT business model. The importance of IT as value adding has to be understood by all the managers. Companies which do do this will fail in the 21st century marketplace.
