Article Abstract:

British Gas, a global energy company, plans to become a catalyst in the development of India's gas market. Currently, British Gas has three major joint venture projects in India. The projects are; Gujarat Gas, Mahanagar Gas and the Gujarat Pipavav LNG Company (GPLC). Gujarat Gas is India's biggest private gas distribution company. It offers natural gas to the local, commercial and industrial consumers in Ankleshwar, Baruch and Surat. It is laying 73 km pipeline from Hazira to Ankleshwar at a cost of US $26 million. Mahanagar Gas provides gas to over 11,000 local, commercial and industrial consumers in Mumbai. It also offers compressed natural gas to over 9,000 vehicles. Mahanagar Gas is planning to lay 113 km steel pipeline and 2,700 km polyethylene pipeline for developing its gas distribution in Mumbai. GPLC is establishing a LNG terminal at Pipavav. The terminal will be able to handle five million tonnes per annum of throughput. GPLC will help British Gas to foray into related projects like gas-fired power stations. (ag)(psr)

KHODAYS TO TIE UP WITH INVER HOUSE

Article Abstract:

Khoday India Limited plans to collaborate with Inver House (Asia Pacific) of Scotland for manufacturing scotch whiskey, brandy, rum, gin and vodka. Khoday India Limited will hold 75 percent stake and Inver House (Asia Pacific) the rest in the joint venture. The joint venture will be located in Bangalore. Inver House (Asia Pacific) markets liquor brands like Inver House, Hankey Bannister and Heather Cream. (rk) (kvr)
