In Asia, it's nearly impossible to tell a song from an ad

Article Abstract:

The music industry has become intertwined in corporate advertising, so that songs are both art and advertising. This trend in the music industry has been spurred by increasing piracy that makes it difficult for recording artists to make money off their record sales. As a response recording artists have started making deals with corporations to write songs that endorse products that the artist simultaneously offers for record sales.

Disney deal offers a foothold in China's online-game scene

Walt Disney Co. of the United States has a deal with Shanda Interactive Entertainment Ltd. of China for the creation of an online game featuring Disney characters to be marketed in China. The online game industry in China generated $455 million last year.
