India's Silicon valley

Article Abstract:

India's Department of Electronics is planning to build a software technology park at a site 15 km outside Bangalore. The park will have a powerful earth station that will link Indian computer software and engineering experts with clients in North America and Europe. Software adjustments and debugging will proceed through video-conferencing links and on-line networks. The plan is not as farfetched as it seems, as Bangalore already has about 25 software centers linked via satellite to clients around the world. The availability of world-class Indian computer experts for comparatively lower salary scales is also one of the major incentives for forign clients.
