India's multiplex stocks offer a ticket to Bollywood profits

Article Abstract:

Movie-theater company shares offer growing investment opportunities in India as the nation's film production industry, known as Bollywood, opts for multiplex cinemas rather than single-screen venues. The number of multiplex cinemas has close to doubled in the past two years, from 73 to 135 with a total of 478 screens, and account for nearly a third of the nation's box office revenue.

Nielsen venture to mine for data on moviegoers

Nielsen Entertainment of the United States has joined forces with MovieTickets.com Inc. also of the United States to research moviegoers. In the United States movie attendance is down seven percent. The joint market research venture hopes to determine why some movies and marketing campaigns generate revenue and others don't.
