Latin America

Article Abstract:

There are signs that Latin America may begin to experience economic growth. Factors likely to encourage economic recovery in 2000 include lower domestic interest rates, more rapid export growth and some rise in non-oil commodity prices. Mexico differs from many Latin American countries in having a strong economy, with real gross domestic product growth being solid in the first half of 1999 and unemployment continuing to drop.
