International economy; recovery in doubt

Article Abstract:

Economic growth for the industrialised countries was estimated at 1.5% for 1992, and should reach 2% in 1993. Growth has been less than 3% for four years, a lower expansion rate than usual. US results show a small recovery, and Japan and European figures also show continuing weakness. The international statistical tables give a fuller picture of results and forecasts.

International Economy; waiting for the recovery

Article Abstract:

It is likely that the world economy will improve slowly in 1992, with many developed countries following neutral policies. Germany has raised taxes, and both Europe and the US have budget deficits which need to be reduced. Other factors to take into account include supply and demand, inflation rates, current account standing and interest and exchange rates.
