Investment mortgages prop up rented sector

Article Abstract:

Good yields on buy-to-let properties and the availability of investment mortgages is helping to increase the number of buyers of properties for rental in the UK. This in turn is helping to meet the rising demand for rented property, with many tenants thought to be waiting for purchase prices to peak before looking around for a property to buy rather than rent. A survey by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) also reveals that the rental market has benefited from a rise in standards, in part due to improved safety rules on fire and furniture.
