Investor power

Article Abstract:

Significant changes have taken place in approaches to corporate governance in Europe. Many European companies have now adopted international accounting standards, and a considerable number have profit targets against which managers are judged. It has become common in Switzerland and Scandinavia to abolish complex shareholding structures. These changes are being prompted by pressure from investors, who are much more international and more demanding than in the past.

Revolting already

Article Abstract:

Scottish Tories are not too happy with the results of the election where they lost every seat in the House of Commons and are pushing aggressively for political reforms. Scottish Tories have already formed an organization set apart from the British Tory Party in anticipation of changes that they are pushing for. The Scottish Tory party is expected to combat referendum efforts of the British government and to formulate policies separate from London's policies.
