Irish deny mackerel overfishing claim by Norway "We caught only our quotas" says Martin Howley

Article Abstract:

A Norwagian fishermen's organisations report claims a 62% violation in mackerel fishing by Ireland. According Martin Howley, chairman of Ireland's Killybegs Fishermen's Organizatin, the allegations of overfishing by Norway are based on statistics gathered from Irish fish landings and Irish fish invoices. There is a scope of double counting in the process.

Russia plans jack mackerel return

Article Abstract:

Russia is planning to restart fishing of jack mackerel, which was a very affordable fish during Soviet era. Russian consumers are again looking at the fish because of which it is becoming costlier.

Horse mackerel more important

Horse mackerel in Namibia has replaced pilchards as the second most important fishing industry's catch. Approximately 80 tons per vessel were the average daily catches during the winter.
