Article Abstract:

Italimpianti is an Italian plant engineering concern which has been acquired by a consortium including Mannesmann Demag. The company is to be broken up with its businesses shared out by the consortium. Techint will acquire materials handling, strip treatment activities and furnaces. Steelmaking activities and blast furnaces will go to Mannesmann. Fiatimpresit, also part of the consortium, is interested in the environmental plant actvities and Castlia, a subsidiary.

US$1 offered for Bulgarian steel giant

Article Abstract:

By the end of January, Turkey steel maker Eregli Demir Selik AS will submit an offer of US$1 for Bulgarian steel co. Kremikovski AD which is going through privatisation. Erdemir plans to invest US$400m in the plant, to reduce the workforce almost in half, and to cancel some of the US $150m debt.
