JVSL FINALISES MARKETING, BUSINESS PLAN FOR NEXT FISCAL

Article Abstract:

Jindal Vijayanagar Steel Ltd (JVSL) will commission a 1.6 million tonnes steel project during 1999-2000 AD. It has finalised financial and marketing deals for the project. It has signed a $45-million export securitisation contract with a Swiss-based trading firm. The guarantee for this contract will be provided by Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI). JVSL has signed marketing pacts with tube manufacturers, cold rollers and OEMs in the southern region. JVSL plans to sell 1.1 million tonnes of hot rolled coils (HRC) and sheets. Under cold rolled segment, it plans to sell 679,000 tonnes. (gs)(m)

JVSL, BRITISH STEEL TIE UP FOR COATED COIL MILL

Article Abstract:

Jindal Vijaynagar Steel Ltd (JVSL) produces flat steel. It has tied up with British Steel (BS) for establishing a colour coating coil mill. The mill will be set up near JVSL's new hot-rolled coil unit. The colour coating plant will be used for making products for export to the south-east and west Asian countries. The unit is expected to be a 50:50 joint venture. It is proposed to produce high grade coated coils for industries manufacturing domestic appliances and automobiles. (ag)

JVSL'S COREX UNIT BEGINS PRODUCTION

Article Abstract:

Jindal Vijayanagar Steel Ltd (JVSL) in Bellary district of Karnataka has commenced production of molten iron by Corex- 2000 process. This marks the completion of the first phase of the project. JVSL can produce 0.8 million tonnes of molten iron per annum. It can also produce hot-rolled coils in the same complex. JVSL has been set up at a cost of Rs4,900 crore. (uh)
