Japan to sell NTT DoCoMo and parent shares

Article Abstract:

The Japanese government plans to list NTT DoCoMo, the mobile telecommunications unit of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp, on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Oct 22, 1998. The company and its underwriters have since Sep 25, 1998, been engaged in a book-building exercise designed to establish the correct price for the shares in the present market. DoCoMo has an extremely profitable cellular telephone business, but there are still uncertainties about how its relationship with its parent company will develop after the latter's break-up.
