Kansas City Southern spinoff advances

Article Abstract:

Kansas City Southern Industries Inc. is going ahead with its proposed spinoff of its financial services operations. The newly-spun off firm will be named Stilwell Financial Inc. Janus Capital Corp. executives and workers are opposing the spin off who are calling on their firm to be spun off separately from Kansas City Southern's other financial services businesses. Kansas City Southern owns 82% of Janus Capital.

Neuberger panel votes to revive IPO

Article Abstract:

Neuberger Berman LLC's executive committee has called on the company to restart its proposals for an initial public offering (IPO). The company's 70 partners will vote on the proposal on July 26, 1999. Neuberger is a money management company based in New York. The company approved of an IPO in 1998, but market instability caused its postponement in October 1998.
