Keeping track of ramp equipment

Article Abstract:

FMC and WhereNet Corp have joined to provide rel-time wireless systems for locating and tracking ground support equipment at airports. Under the deal, FMC Airport Products and Systems Div becomes an authorized distributor and technology partner with the WhereNet Corp. WhereNet has developed a tagging system for locating mobile equipment in depots, stockyards, shipyards, manufacturing plants and similar locations. Together, they are developing a system for the airport environment.

Brand new opportunities

Lufthansa Airport and Ground Services (LAGS) has changed its name to GlobeGround which is aimed at easy identification both on the ground and internationally within the aerospace sector. The branding suggests a strong brand for LAGS' partner companies, reflects network strength and enhances its neutrality and independence. GlobeGround managing director Peter Bluth also insists on continued expansion as a priority for the ground handling services company.

Swissport extends its reach in the US

Article Abstract:

US-based DynAir Group's business units will change their names to Swissport. The change in name comes a year after the ground handling company purchased the US service provider. Swissport is claimed to be the largest ground handler in the world in terms of stations served and revenues generated. The global branding strategy is aimed at emphasizing the fact that Swissport provides its customers with a unified service quality standard around the world.
