King to be fit

Article Abstract:

Former Fiat chairman, Cesare Romiti, has become the biggest stockholder in a holding company called Gemina. He spent 24 years at Fiat, leaving in Jun 1998, was given an option by Fiat to acquire an 18.8% stake in Gemina, as well as a bonus which allowed him to buy the stake. He wants Gemina to invest in small and medium firms, and offers a hands-off role, focusing on strategy for Gemina as a whole. There is a risk that he may not know when to withdraw, due to the attractions of business.

King Hassan of Morocco

Article Abstract:

King Hassan ll of Morocco became monarch in 1961 and reigned for 38 years although many Arab monarchies did not survive the 1950s and 1960s. There were some ten attempts to assassinate him, and he was seen as possessing grace and luck, so came to be accepted by the Moroccan people. He was a shrewd ruler who was in tune with prevailing trends. He developed a good relationship with the US, but paid less attention to politeness with European monarchs who had less power.

A king's order: Bhutan

Article Abstract:

About 70,000 refugees from Bhutan now live in camps in Nepal, and Bhutan claims that they are illegal residents and a threat to the country. Bhutanese king Jigme Singye Wangchuk ordered the expulsion of people who are not of Bhutanese origin.
