Knock, knock

Article Abstract:

Credit Suisse First Boston has been affected by a number of setbacks such as losses in Russia in 1998, and the likely temporary closure of some of its businesses in Japan in 1999. The company lacked a coherent strategy for its Japanese operations. Some problems may have arisen as a result of the investment bank's rapid growth. The company is performing well in a number of markets. This strong performance is evident from the comany's resilience when faced with setbacks.
