LVMH builds watch division by acquiring Ebel and Chaumet

LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA stated Wednesday that it acquired Swiss watchmaker Ebel and French jeweler Chaumet to help build its new timepiece division, adding on to the recent acquisition of TAG Heuer International from Switzerland for 1.2 billion Swiss francs (Euro754.6 million). The company outbid Swatch AG to acquire the two companies from Investcorp, a Bahrain investment fund.
