Le groupe fran ais Nyco cro t Tournai

Article Abstract:

The French group Nyco, specialist in the production of lubricants for the civil and military aeronautic, industrial and automobile sectors, has invested BFr 480mn in its Tournai (Belgium) based plant, purchased in 1997. The 6 hectare site will be the group's principle ester, mineral and synthetic based lubricant, and aeronautic hydraulic fluid production base. Between September 1998 and 1999, Nyco will invest a further BFr 60mn in the addition of a third production line to its existing capacities, as well as a storage warehouse and increasing its research and development potential. Nyco has received both European and Wallonian (an area of Belgium) public aid for its Belgian investment projects. In its 1997/98 trading year which ended in September, Nyco posted a turnover of BFr 1.3bn. The group is already present in many countries including India, Italy and South Africa.

Sparnex rach te l'Allemand ESP

Article Abstract:

The German firm, ESP, has been taken over by the Antwerp (Belgium) based telecommunications firm, Sparnex. ESP manufactures regulating devices for telephones (including mobile phones). Sparnex, which is also active in this sector, intend to use ESP as a centre for testing and regulating activities so that it can focus on the transmission market. Sparnex (60 employees) posted a 1997 turnover of BFr 106mn, with losses of BFr 11mn. ESP (28 employees) predicts a turnover of BFr 100mn for 1998. Sparnex expects that the takeover of ESP will enable it to break even in 1999, and predicts a turnover of BFr 300mn.
