Lessons from FutureWorld: a study of the passive solar energy performance of houses at the 1994 FutureWorld exhibition has found only a few rays of sunshine

Article Abstract:

A study of FutureWorld houses, a housing development and exhibition area utilising modern energy saving technologies, found that the majority of house builders did not adapt their designs to achieve favourable orientation. However the majority of architects were aware of the benefits of passive solar energy and some exhibits successfully integrated solar energy through favourable orientation, with high rates of fabric insulation and controlled heating systems.
