Housing on a glazed street: a glazed street is the organising focus of a prize-winning low-energy, low-cost housing scheme recently completed at Milton Keynes

Article Abstract:

The low energy housing competition on Milton Keynes Energy Park was one by architect Hutton Nichols Goodenough and builder Hinkins & Frewer. The design was 30 one and two bed housing units along a glazed street. The glazed street and garden are shared spaces. The street structure is freestanding from the houses and the roof slopes down to a gutter instead of up to a ridge, and the V-shape helps to control peak temperatures.
