Lockheed may be taking $500 million in charges

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin Corp. revealed a likelihood that it will assume up to $500 million in one-time costs related to accounting changes in fledgling ventures and to cut its stake in CalComp Technology Inc., a majority-controlled computer-printer concern. Bethesda, MD-based Lockheed has not revealed whether it will assume the accounting-associated expense, amounting from $300 million and $400 million, in 1998 or 1999. The company is still in the process of studying its relationship with Anaheim, CA-based CalComp, but based on preliminary information, the resulting charges related to CalComp could reach between $60 million to $100 million.
