Loews will shift management

Article Abstract:

Loews Corp. Co-Chief Executives Laurence and Preston Robert Tisch announced that they will relinquish their post to the next generation of Tisches at the end of 1998. James Tisch, the present Loews president and chief operating officer and son of Laurence Tisch, will be appointed to replace the billionaire brothers as chief executive. Andrew Tisch has been appointed as chairman of the board of directors' executive committee and will become co-president together with brother, James. Jonathan Tisch, president and chief executive of Loews Hotels and son of Preston Tisch, will share the president position with Andrew and James. Meanwhile, Laurence and Preston will still serve as Loews co-chairmen.

TRW chief to quit in wake of deal with LucasVarity

Article Abstract:

Peter S. Hellman, the president and chief operating officer of TRW Inc., will be resigning from his posts according to the company. The announcement of Mr. Hellman's departure follows TRW's agreement to purchase LucasVarity, a manufacturer of auto-parts based in Great Britain. Mr. Hellman will leave TRW at the end of February 1999. The company will also eliminate his position.
