Logistics: more than just a name on the side of trucks

Logistics accounts for over a sixth of the United Kingdom working population and some 25% of the UK's gross domestic product (GDP). The term covers more than transportation and includes ensuring that the correct quantity of goods is transported at the right price and time. The UK logistics market has grown rapidly since the start of the 1980s and has been boosted by large retailers contracting out these operations. The market has also become increasingly concentrated. European transportation companies from outside the UK have also entered the UK market.

Brixton Academy makes a break for the border
Article Abstract:
The Brixton Academy is a leading rock concern venue and has been significant in improving the perception of Brixton as an area. An unsolicited approach from the Brazilian Universal Church of the Kingdom of God to purchase the business provoked stormy reactions, so a shortlist of other serious potential purchasers was drawn up. This included Break for the Border Group (BFTB), a restaurateur, live music venue operator and nightclub owner. BFTB acquired the Brixton Academy in 1995.
