London is losing ground

Article Abstract:

Passenger traffic figures from the world's busiest 1,000 airports released by Aeroports de Paris and Airport Council International in May 2000 indicate that Paris, France's Charles de Gaulle Airport will overtake London, UK's Hearthrow Airport as Europe's busiest airport if passenger traffic growth rates of 1999 continue and business at the two local airports is allowed to grow uncapped. It is also predicted that Frankfurt- Main International Airport will overtake Hearthrow in 2006 if 1999 rates of growth are sustained.

But it is not established that low-cost travel around Europe is luring new clients from socio-economic groups D and C.
