Looking for partners in the RFE

Article Abstract:

Hyundai Heavy Industrial Group of South Korea, the owner of 70% of the Hyundai Hotel in Vladivostok, Russia, is said to be looking for a group to buy the city's 30%-stake in the $96-million joint venture project. The latest development, confirmed by Vladivostok Business Center's vice president, Yevgeny Korolkov, is seen as the result of financing problems for the project, which opened in July 1997, primarily on the part of the city. Hyundai, which is proceeding with its other projects in the region, including an outdoor tourism facility in Arseniev, Russia, is said to have borne most of the financing for the joint venture.

City of frauds

Article Abstract:

Mike Davis has presented a bleak view of Los Angeles in his studies of the city according to some critics. Davis argues, for example, that more gated communities are springing up, excluding people, yet the opposite is true in that there are more public spaces. Indigenous wildlife does not pose a threat, despite Davis' claims. New York publishers appear to like such portrayals of Los Angeles.
