Los Angeles airport meets receycling targets

Article Abstract:

Ontario International, part of the Los Angeles World Airport Group, proudly announced that it has met its recycling targets for 1999. The airport revealed that its has recycled 40% of its solid waste, broken down to 296 tons of greenery, 100 tons of cardboard, 55 tons of mixed paper, 45 tons of pellets, 36 tons of non-ferrous metal and 0.3 tons of aluminum. The recycling efforts of Ontario International is part of the airport group's receyling program initiated in response to government recycling targets.

Five routes to raising airport revenue

Article Abstract:

Five recommended options to increase airport revenue are discussed. The options are the master concessionaire/operator; mini-master concessionare/ operator; developer; development manager; and the airport as developer. In partnering with a developer, the developer acts like a real estate agent and handles the leases and subleases of tenants. The development manager is similar to a developer except that it does not provide capital in concessions.

Washington generates US$6.5 billion

Article Abstract:

The Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport generated $6.5 billion for the local and regional economy and offered work for over 25,000 people, based on 1998 statistics under a recently-finished study conducted for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. In 1998, the two airports generated $4.9 billion for the area's tourism industry thanks to the 8.4 million visitors that used both airports.
