Low maintenance, investment hampers Venezuelan oil output
Article Abstract:
Oil production in Venezuela is dropping due to poor maintenance and weak investment. Production has also been affected by a dearth of skilled workers. Venezuela produces an estimated 500,000 barrels a day below pre-strike production figures.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is not expected to change oil export quotas during its upcoming meeting in Vienna on July 31, 2003. Quotas are not expected to change despite the slow recovery of Iraqi oil exports.
