Lukoil's net profit rises 16%, but high taxes curb growth

Article Abstract:

Net profits for Russia's OAO Lukoil rose by 16% to $7.48 bil for 2006, due largely to increased refining margins and higher crude-oil prices; however, higher taxes connected to these prices curbed larger growth. Total revenue increased by 21% to $68.11 bil, but stock prices fell by 1.5% to $83.31.
