MBIL CRIES FOUL AS AUTO BODY PLANS NEW FORUM

Article Abstract:

Mercedes Benz India Limited (MBIL) has opposed the move of the Association of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (AIAM) to introduce a preferential scheme in the Society for Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). This scheme allows the founding- members SIAM to have 3 votes compared to 1 vote given to the new members. MBIL has opposed this move as the founding-members are Indian companies. It has also sought the status of founding- member of SIAM. SIAM has rejected the plea of MBIL. (ag)

1,000 OPT FOR VRS AT IND AUTO

Article Abstract:

Ind Auto Ltd (IAL) is a joint venture of Fiat and Premier Automobiles Ltd (PAL). IAL has offered a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for its 3,300 employees. Of these, 1,000 workers have opted for the scheme. About 600 workers will come under the maximum Rs5 lakh VRS package. Along with other incentives and statutory payments, the total benefit would be Rs8-12 lakh for each retiring employee. (gs)
