Management to bid for Seagram unit; team to compete with Diageo-Pernod alliance

Top executives at Canadian conglomerate Seagram Company Ltd., have expressed interest to acquire the liquor business of Seagram when France-based Vivendi auctions it off. Other companies are bidding for the business, they are Pernod Ricard S.A., and Diageo PLC.

Yorkshire Water agrees to purchase Aquarion of U.S. for 426.3 million euros

Article Abstract:

Yorkshire Water PLC announced that it is planning to acquire Aquarion Co. for $444 million (426.3 million euros). Aquarion is a water treatment company based in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Yorkshire is based in England. The acquisition price comes out to $37.05 per share. Yorkshire has a customer base of 1.9 million in England. The deal will for the first time give Yorkshire a direct US presence.
